What is Rock Up & Ride?
Sport Aberdeen (funded by Nestrans) runs Scottish Cycling’s Rock Up & Ride Project (RUAR) in Aberdeen. The project aims to break down barriers to cycling in Aberdeen City by working with individuals, community groups, community partners, & volunteers.
RUAR operates out of the Aberdeen Cycle Hub@Seaton (with easy paved cycle access to the beach and Seaton Park areas), as well as delivering outreach programmes in priority neighbourhood areas of Northfield, St Machar, & Torry.
The project works in partnership with other cycling and community development charities & organisations in the city, including Sport Aberdeen’s sister project Grampian Inclusive Cycling Bothies (in partnership with Grampian Disability Sport), to provide a range of cycling opportunities listed below.
If you don’t find anything suitable in the list below, please contact the team at Communitysport@sportaberdeen.co.uk

Explore Our Cycle Sessions
We run free regular sessions throughout the year (as long as the weather is good enough). Our sessions are free to attend, and we can provide bikes and helmets for you to use during these sessions. Sessions can change depending on the season and our availability, but current opportunities include;
- Led Rides (adults) – Group cycle rides led by trained ride leaders. Focus is on social atmosphere, and building confidence on the bike, with the pace matching the least confident member of the group.
BOOK A LED RIDE NOW - Children’s cycling & learn to ride – targeted sessions for children living in priority neighbourhoods, or from groups underrepresented in cycling. These primarily run during term time.
